2018 Trek

Hello All,

Tuesday, March 19th will be our next Advisor Contingency meeting for the Philmont 2019 Contingent Committee. The meeting will be at the Service Center on Genisi Drive, Morganville at 7:30pm. Airline tickets have been booked and new preparations are assigned to crews for the contingent trip to Philmont. The Cog Rail is closed indefinetly so we will visit the Royal Gorge. We will schedule a Spring Shakedown hike in 2019 to prepare for Philmont as a Contingent. All participants are required to have a BSA medical form sign by their doctors within the calendar year of July 20, 2019. We currently have 58 registered participants.

The dates for the 2019 adventure are as follows:
Friday July 5: Newark to Denver, CO.
Sunday July 7: Arrive at Philmont
Friday July 19: Denver to Newark NJ

The advertisements for the Philmont 2019 Trek is out on the Monmouth Council Website and registration is now open. Continue to think how you can help as a Crew Advisor and our Contingent about the positions listed below to see how your experience can be best utilized. Some of you may have notes or records from previous treks, please bring them.

Outline of Volunteer Positions:

Crew advisor - participate with crew on bimonthly meetings. Takes part in Philmont trip with crew. The Crew Advisor tracks financial payments for all crew members and returns a summary to the financial coordinator. Also, coordinate skills to prepare for trek.

Contingent Management - takes on pre-trek trip responsibilities such as coordination of Spring or Fall shakedown hike and or food ordering. Help with reservations or hat/shirt ordering as outlined below.

Contingent support - Helps with Fall or Spring shakedown hikes in addition to other responsibilities.

The Advisors Contingency Meetings (advisors or new advisors only) will be the first Tuesday of each month so we can use the large meeting room. Most meetings will be at the Service Center unless the date needs to be adjusted all meetings start at 7:30.
