This morning was a six o'clock wake up
and we were out of camp at 8. We were headed to Clark's Fork via Hidden Valley and Window
Rock. The hike through Hidden Valley is quite beautiful and pleasant. |

We arrived at Window Rock and spent about an hour there
climbing on the rocks and taking in the view of the Great Plains and Tooth Ridge. There
were a lot of pictures taken at this point. The crew decided to hold a brief religious
service and closed with the Philmont Hymn. We met up with Crew 5 here also. They were
side-hiking from Cito and had come around the opposite way we were heading. |
The next portion of the trail was down to Cito
Reservoir and Cathedral Rock. On the way down the trail, we were passed by Harvey Nochese
and Crew 10. They warned us that they had seen a rattlesnake on the side of the trail a
couple of hundred yards ahead of us. Denis and I took the lead to help insure the crew
safety but I must admit that I was scared. Fortunately, no sign of the snake was seen. We
lunched at the side of the dam. A light rain started as we were finishing up so we decided
to skip the ice caves and head on to Clark's Fork. |

We arrvied at Clark's Fork about 12:40 and went set up camp. There
was thunder in the distance. We participated in the Western Lore program of branding and
roping during the afternoon. There was then the Chuck Wagon dinner and then a campfire
program in front of the cabin. It was hard to believe that there was only one more night
on the trail.
