July 3, 1998: One Last Day of Touring

Then it was on to Pikes Peak.

After Pikes Peak, it was on to Furr's Family Resturant in Colorado Springs for an all-you-can-eat buffet lunch.

After lunch, it was back on to the buses for the ride to LaJunta and our stay at the Koshare Indian Kiva. We arrived at the Kiva about 4:00 PM. With the size of our group, we were housed in the gym across the street at Otero Junior College.

Our visit to the Kiva coincided with Alumni Night for the show. There were probably about 450 to 500 people in the Kiva that night. We arrived at about 6:45 for the 8:00 show and had a difficult time getting seats for our crew close together. By the time the show started, they had two extra rows of people in front of the seats on the steps all the way around the Kiva. The show lasted a long time with all the extra people and festivities. We were all glad to see the show end. Thankfully, we were staying in the gym and not at the Kiva so we were able to head to sleep rather quickly without having to wait for the Kiva to be cleared and cleaned.
