Epilogue |

It has taken me quite some time to complete this log. Iím not normally a procrastinator, but I did have a hard time letting go of this experience. Perhaps I kept getting lost in reverie each time I tried to transcribe my trail notes into readable prose. Perhaps I just didnít want to accept the fact that Iíve been removed from the backcountry and mired in the "real world" again. At any rate, this chapter of my Philmont chronicle has come to an end; but the saga continues. I hope there will be many more tales to tell before my final chapter is written. Actually, Iím counting on it. Remember that as the bus was leaving Philmont on the road to Cimarron and our re-entry into "civilization", I turned and looked at the Arrowhead rock formation on the back side of Tooth Ridge. I gazed long and hard. The legend is on my side. |
